if ur from north and not a first gen lawyer( read u hv contacts) go to amity or symbi

otherwise hnlu n ils r equally good..choose ur location preferences n raipur being a small city compared to pune

IF U WANT PLACEMENT THEN SYMBIOSIS IS THE OPTION.

BUT IN ACADEMICS GLC IS BETTER. :)

AnonymousLLB 25 Jun 2011, 15:00

placements in symbi…lol…only LPOs

AnonymousLLB 25 Jun 2011, 15:44

I would give the following preference order to you :-

1.HNLU

2.ILS

3.Symbiosis Pune

4.GLC

5.Amity

HNLU is an N-school and an N-school is anyday better than a normal law school …(the rankings keep on changing)

all of them are good colleges/schools but ILS is old and reputed among foreign firms has a A+ by the NAAC Standards and good at moots

Symbiosis has a cool crowd and decent placements has a A by the NAAC standards but it’s private… 3. GLC has a good reputation and better chances of getting placed being in Mumbai … Do not know anything about Amity (sorry) :P

So i hope you go to HNLU , Raipur … if not than ILS in that order… :cheer:

ALL THE BEST !!!!! :woohoo:

LPOs generally dont come to Symbi as it doesnt highlight them much, Symbi has a high quotient among placement in Corporate big houses and Banks like ONGC, Thermax, Bajaj Allianz, SIDBI and others. Agreed that there are no 100% placements but with a batch strength of 150-175 each year, nobody can guarantee 100% placements, the college usually manages a 75% though. All the more the brand name, library, teaching and international connections matters. Please read your facts before making such representations.

AnonymousLLB 11 Aug 2011, 06:35

But all the more I would suggest you to go for Symbiosis Law School Noida, a law school built on the grounds of National Law Schools, it is anytime better than the one at Pune as it can provide infrastructure, teaching and branding at par with the National Law Schools. Also Symbi has international connections with Sheffield, Warwick, Kings college, law schools in Germany, University of Oslo, Cardiff and many under the Erasmus Mundus programmes (Student exchange). Symbi and ILS are anytime better brands than HNLU and GNLU and other upcoming national law schools as they are providing laureates to the BCI over 25 years. The latter are new kids on the block. However HNLU is good in terms of sound legal education.

Harboring delusions of the grandeur ?

AnonymousLLB 11 Aug 2011, 11:12

arijit i hope u have got a decent placement from that school so u can say so but in reality that school is unable to get proper law firms or for that matter any law firm i have came across a large number of students past n present who always say that it was the worst decision of thrier life so stop defending everybody knows the reality about symbiosis

ILS PUNE has an average infrastructure but consists of a variety of co-curricular’s such as Parliamentary Debates , MUN’s and most importantly moot courts ! HNLU is a disgrace in the name of National Law Schools !!!!

CLAT’s over, counselling’s done with, admissions’ dusted with…But the Noojie Chump is still fighting for a cause, eh?

AnonymousLLB 6 Sept 2011, 13:09

It’s as simple as this.

want a fuller ‘college life’ as opposed to ‘law school donkey kong’..choose Symbi or ILS.

Symbi(Pune) might be lagging in infrastructure (full-fledged campus - which i’m told is finally coming in a year, hostel - Only an NRI hostel which requires some serious connections to get in etc) but in terms of providing a student a whole lot of avenues to pursue, not just law. They have an excellent sports cell, debating, creative arts etc.. and go for atleast 3 cultural or sports fests across the country every year. It’s quite brilliant.

If you want to be a lawyer, and just a lawyer and nothing but a lawyer.. then perhaps GNLU or HNLU would be a better option, ‘cause frankly, National Law schools are much tighter on the law education bit..

But overall development as an individual, few law colleges would beat symbi or for that matter ILS.

I prefer symbi ‘cause i’m an alumni, and prefer the crowd in general, vis-a-vis ILS, taking nothing away from a stellar bunch of friends I have from there.

It’s ‘college’. You need to enjoy it as much as learn in it.

My personal top law college would be NUJS Kolkata, ‘cause I believe it offers a good balance between academics, peers, social life and extra-curricular.

Symbi is a close second.

AnonymousLLB 6 Sept 2011, 14:45

NUJS is the best place to have fun in mate… ILS is not very hip (quite nerdy -studious people there) … Symbi is pretty cool !
arijit i hope u have got a decent placement from that school so u can say so but in reality that school is unable to get proper law firms or for that matter any law firm i have came across a large number of students past n present who always say that it was the worst decision of thrier life so stop defending everybody knows the reality about symbiosis
The reality has changed dear, placement depends upon the batch (knowledge) , placement officer and also the alumni. In my year there were decent placements, I though coudn’t secure one through the college, but the brand Symbi played an important part in cracking every interview I went for along with my knowledge in various domains… also Symbi gave me the independence to start working as early as 4th year, to which I learnt much about corporate matters and Corporate Compliance… The bottomline is you need to use the resources provided. Also those whining about placement in law firms, u should know the portfolio of the college before applying to it. Symbi is highly regarded in Corporates and that doesn’t include law firms. It gives a lot of avenues, hell even I did’t utilise them fully. Also it gives you independence, we studied law because we had a passion for it, not under pressure from college authorities. Yes we do regret that it didn’t have a proper infrastructure but then infrastructure is not enough to build a career. I am not defending Symbi, just highlighting the pros and cons. Also for that matter I enjoyed a lot in college, college fests, night outs, having fun on campus, absolutely no discipline, thrills of trekking and most of all the crashing batch parties… and I am now employed and various of my friends are so with Big 4s and firms as AZB, JSA or Amarchand Mangaldas as also in blue chip companies. So you see… there are always two sides to a coin.

AnonymousLLB 16 Jul 2014, 20:45

hey guys . so i have similar dilemma except that i have glc and amiy in front of me . from what i have read online , amity has infrastructure and shit .. but glc has so much experience , a great faculty , the best moot courts and tons of internships. question is where should i go if i wanna keep all my options open as far as law is concerned ? (i.e. litigation , corporate …)

lucky24 16 Jul 2014, 22:41

GLC in any case z the best among Tier 2 colleges ..3-4 NLUs make the 1 Tier …Though AMITY delhi z also gud with gud infrastructure ..

No one gonna regret choosin AMITY …
