can anyone please tell me why i should not choose hnlu over gnlu.(other than the placements bit)

See, there is not much of difference between these two colleges. One is ranked 6th and the other is 7th. So its like almost the same. While HNLU has some pros it has cons too. One of which is the locational disadvantage. Coming to the pros, it has a fantastic campus with an awesome stacked library. It is good in mooting and better than GNLU according to the recent MPL standings. Placement has been more or less the same barring the huge AMSS take up at GNLU.
Faculty is more or less the same. HNLU is better I would say.
Rest is your decision and no one can help that.

Go for GNLU if you want to get into corporate.
It might not seem too important but the location matters if you want a ‘desk job’, they also have atie up with AMSS.
If you want to go away from the sad life of cities, live a quiet life with trees and forests around you then HNLU(they have a huge campus)- and they are decent at placements too.
But then chances of coming down to something like Mumbai for the weekend are non-existent.

wat do u think the future holds for either of these institutions 5 yrs down the line?
i have heard hnlu has some internal problems which might not b conducive to academics.also,im interstd in litigation and not a desk job as such.

for litigation you’ll get a good grounding at hnlu, because of the strong debating and mooting culture. but honestly, litigation is all about studying and working things out yourself…and thats something you can do at either place. if the city advantage is really important to you, pick gnlu. If not, choose hnlu. more or less, both univs are equal, depending on how you wish to look at it.
