WHY JUST NLU?
A lot of gung ho at the slightest mention of any National Law University. does clearing just 1 exam make all the difference. Is an entrance exam the sole determinant? Its not & should not be - #4 in NLUD is 311 in CLAT,#10 is 550, #15 is 721, #17 is 1309, #30 is 1109, #32 is 8310, #54 is 2145.
I sthi snot akin to the great IAS officers of this country - by clearing one exam they get the licence to loot this country. Can just 1 exam determine who is more intelligent. The NLU guys often quote - those colleges do not attract the cream. Is just 1 exam the churner to seperate cream & leave skimmed milk for others to have. If yes then why do we need Lokpal or Anna Hazare to monitor the creme de la creme - our IAS officers?
I feel those who clear NLU’s should be more humble and consider themselves lucky that they have got a chance to study in a premium school & at the nations expense. The topics just center around Law Firms & salaries. Will this really improve the legal system. why is it that the best want to rest in offices and not practice in courts to remove the actual rot of the legal system?
Nothing against NLU - its just that there rests a greater responsibility on your shoulders if you consider yourself the cream. If the whole process is limited to just comfortable high paying jobs - you may not be doing justice with the NLUs or yourself or the nation. You are better not because yu get a better paid job. You are better for the country expects you to contribute to wards improving the system.
All the BEST to those who made it thru CLAT & to those who could not. CLAT is not the end of the world.

I concur.
Some of the dumbest people I have ever met in my life were in the NLU I am in(and I’m in a good one).
All that some of these guys know is to sit in the front of a book like a statue.
Either way,
Indians love ‘branding’.
Like IIT’s, IIM’s, NIT’s, NLU’s.
We love this kind of stuff.
So that’s why NLU’s.
Good and sensible points. Unless we have a broader mechanism of judging college admissions such as letter of motivation/ purpose statement, all we’ll be producing are bookworms with no real world talent.
I’ve seen great orators and imaginative personalities much better than what you’ll find in NLS, who are looked down upon or judged poorly just because they did not attend a NLS.
