Entertainment Law Firm internships

I am a second year student in the B.A.LLB course. I would like to intern in a law firm with expertise in entertainment law.

My research tells me that Naik Paranjpe and Co. is the best option in this field. However, as a second year student, will I have the luxury of choosing to work for entertainment law cases? If not, then I would rather try and chances of myself an internship in the Tier I law firms.

Moreover, how does being a second year student affect chances of landing a law firm internship and the kind of work I get there? Should I first exhaust the option of working at lawyer’s chambers?

Lastly, are there any other firms in Delhi, Kolkata or Bombay that are perhaps better or as good for entertainment law??

Dear Noob,

It is nice that you wish to intern in an entertainment law firm i.e. an area of your choice. When you talk of entertainment law, it is part of a larger practice called TMT ( Technology Media and Telecommunications). As you have rightly concluded that Naik and Naik is one of the leading firms for entertainment law. So you can show your passion and research in this field and try interning there. However to be very honest, any sector including media/entertainment is still dominated by Big shot firms like AMSS, AZB, JSA, Nishith Desai, Khaitan etc, So its better if at this stage you try working there. Talking of cities, since Mumbai is hub of entertainemnt so that should be your first choice. However if you do not get through here, then you can move to Delhi or Bangalore.

I am s second year law student. i wish to intern at Naik Naik & Co. for the month of June- July, 2012 and accordingly I have also sent my CV and cover letter. But, I think I have got late in applying. Can anyone suggest me some good entertainment law firms???

Is your desire to intern with entertainment law firm backed by your wish to meet celebs..get real bro..ent law has a limited scope..and in 2nd yr dnt expect big firm to welcome you with open arms..if u r hellbent, mail them asking the status of your application and if they dnt revert, call dem up..my advise would be learn court work under a lawyer if u dnt land up at a decent firm dis time around..
