I’m reading pearson’s clat guide, R. S. Agrawal’s Reasoning book and Norman Lewis’s vocabulary builder.

Shall enroll myself to a correspondence program from IMS or some else to get their study materials? Or shall I study 3 months by my own stuffs and then join a one month’s crash course ?

PLEASE help ASAP.

From personal experience i would suggest the LST Express Batch. It is by far the best. Solo learning might be effective, but the very classroom atmosphere at training sessions instills confidence and plus you also know that your on the right road.

So, do attend training.

As per the books, i would suggest Agarwal for reasoning, though puzzles on the internet and head bangers from anywhere would do the trick. The aim is to keep your mind sharp, and this can be achieved in any which way you deem fit.

Again, just stick to GK cause this is what makes and breaks the CLAT Paper. This is what separates you from NLSIU and RGNLU! ( again, no offence intended to the caliber of any Law School, merely going by rankings. Feel free to differ)

Good Luck guys , and one final advice, a private law school like Symbiosis, Christ and Amity is anyday better than the bottom 4 New National Universities.

Well, It’s not worth listening to such claims about the paper unless expressly stated in notice by NUJS themselves. Till then, you keep up to date with all activities, and learn up on past history.

The GK section quality would be good, emphasis on history mainly considering it is NUJS!

Just, learn up through GK books, News Letters, Manorama Year Book is the best for the entire year and the rest look into earlier question papers!

and aim for nalsar nujs nls etc…not just nliu or gnlu

Firstly, please aim higher!! Think of NLS, nalsar, nujs,etc. It’s important to dream BIG!

As regards the change in syllabus, what you’ve heard is right. This year you won’t be questioned much on static gk but on current affairs alone. It provides this year’s aspirants a very good chance to score well in the GK section. For preparing your current affairs (from May ‘10 till present), at the end of every year The Hindu brings out a Diary of Events of the past year on its website. Have a look at this sample of the year 2009 - http://www.hinduonnet.com/revents/events.htm. It is extremely informative and covers all the major events under different topics. If you want to know more on a particular topic you can always google it and find more.

To keep up with your current affairs from now on, please start reading The Hindu religiously from now on. There’s no substitute to it. And by reading, it doesn’t just mean skimming through. Be thorough with what you read. Make a notebook or something if you need. Pratyogita Darpan is also quite helpful. See if you can get your hand over issues of the past 8 months.

Regarding your doubt of joining a coaching program, from my own experience,I would say that what they teach there is not really that helpful. It’s their reading material and, more importantly, their test papers that make a difference. Make sure you solve shitloads of papers before your CLAT as they teach you to be accurate as well as fast. So taking a distance program should be enough. However, joining a month long crash course is also not a bad option. I also joined such a course with LST. The only way in which joining a classroom course will give you an advantage over distance/postal program would be in giving you a test-like environment which is somewhat difficult to get at home.

Yes, Clatgyan is pretty good. So is Clathacker. Keep visiting these websites.

I would like to correct you on one thing…”NUJS is setting up the paper, but do not expect any emphasis to be given on History.” It clearly falls under static GK, whereas it is explicitly stated in all the interviews by the VC of NUJS that there will be no static GK this year.

I would suggest the creator of this blog to visit the clat website, you will get better information there. Prepare current affairs properly. Do not waste your time rotting unnecessary things.

I’ve subscribed to The Hindu last day. Some guys are telling me to read Manorama year book too! Anyways, I’ll definitely read The Hindu sincerely.

And as you said, solving papers is very important, I reckon I’ll enroll myself to some test series program or may be a correspondence course.

A friend of mine told me that LST Jaipur is a very good center to join.. So I’ll probably do the crash course from there.

Actually.. umm.. I’m on a drop. I passed 12th grade in march. But I was badly confused about my next step so took a drop. I decided of persuing law some days ago..

Anyways, it implies that I have all the time to fully study for Law entrance.

What would u suggest?.. How should I study?

By that I mean should I study all the subjects a little everyday? OR, should I pick one subject a day?

Well, considering there is no static gk the burden or load reduces considerabally.( last years aspirants will understand- “when was humayun born”..really bhopal??)

So, there is a simpler approach to study, a much narrow refined one.

I suggest you keep updating yourself with GK daily(CA) and also work on logic daily.

Rest of it can be pin-pointed to particular study hours.

I addition to adoksh’s quote.. I would say that, a score of 150+ is likely to secure u a seat at NLS Bangalore.. So keep working hard.. Even I’m aspiring for NLS Bangalore and NALSAR. But gotta work REAL hard.. Have you joined any coaching??

Had to make this point after reading Ankit’s note on the 150+ point.

After you guys write your CLAT paper, there is going to be a firework display of rumors and predictions and answers and what-not. The important thing is to note that no one knows the right answers or questions, or infact, those who do are not those talking. There will be a run about of sites saying a particular score would get you into a particular National law School. I can assure you to not go by those ratings because it is ultimately how u and your fellow aspirants have achieved the paper.

Last year, a score of 134 was being pinned on getting you through sumthing like Gandhinagar and it only landed me a seat in CNLU( i understand that your ranking of preference may be different, but mine was in accordance to the regular rankings of national law school tiers).

So 150+ could be NUALS this time, or 150+ could be NLSIU!

You never know!

Go into the hall aiming for 200! for there is nothing that can take you away from your dream from there!
