If we are taking library internship from any of the National Law Universities,will that going to help us in future?

Hi Sonitaa, I don’t quite understand your question. Can you please elaborate? Are you looking for library interns in law firms, other colleges or where? And what and how do you expect them to be able to help you?

Actually, I am a 1st year student.I was suggested by one of my friends in CNLU to go for library internship. I am currently doing such intership from a National Law University. But I am unable to understand it’s relevence with my future legal career. Some people suggested me to search for good NGOs for intership. I am just in confused state.

Many first year student nowadays seem to be interning at libraries of law schools. I can’t find any reason how these internships are beneficial!
Follow the convention; intern at an NGO. HRLN, RLEK, CCS, CRY etc are good options.

yups, i agree with legalpoet it’s bttr 2 intern at sum NGO rather a law school library…but if u r keen 2 wrk in a lib opt for ILI.

Thank you all for replying to this post.You guys are right about going for internship with an NGO. But as of now, I have already started my internship in a library. I don’t know whether it will help me or not, but I feel it’s atleast nota waste of my vaccations.

Hi Sonita
Many Law Universities require or as a general custom ask you to do at least one library internship during the course. Students willing to go for a library internship may choose various institutions for their internship.
Law Universities upon their discretion may allow you to intern at their library; along with this, internships at Law Commission, Ministry of External Affairs, ISIL etc are also Library Internships.
Library Internship basically results into some project work assigned to you by your university or on any subject chosen by you.
Library Internship in Law Universities are not of much help as it is equivalent of reading books in your own University Library, the difference is that you research on particular topics during your internship; lest you are guided by any faculty at that library which is generally not seen.
Library Internship in Law Commission, Ministries, ISIL is recommended. They can be more helpful than any other library internship. These institutions have a formal procedure for internship which is available on their website.
ISIL offers an internship programme for LL. B. students providing opportunities to become involved with the research work of our society. All positions are based in ISIL require a minimum commitment of 8 hours per day. All internships are unpaid.
How to Apply:
Request for internships should be send to us from Director/Dean/Head of Department recommending the name of students.
