Scope of ADR & mediation

AnonymousLLB 24 Aug 2010, 21:48

I am a student of first year BA LLB (H) at a top NLU. I am on the look out to identify a law related rare specialty to peruse my career.

Can anyone suggest the scope of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and mediation ? Is it worth like CA,CS or CWA or for a corporate career? Please advice.

Hi Jairam,

I researched a lot on ADR in my second year. The field is replete with opportunities. You can, of course, create some of your own. Here are some places where you can intern at (probably the best way to learn about a field). Do the internships at the flag end of your second year because you are taught very little law in your first year.

Lawyers

1.) Firdosh Karachiwala (Bombay)

2.) Sriram Panchu (Chennai)

Law firms

1. Advani and Co. (Bombay)

2. Kachwaha and Partners (Delhi)

Others

1. Meta Culture Consulting (Bangalore)

2. Mr. Veeraghavan Inbavijaya (Chennai)

Every district court and HC too has a mediation and conciliation cell. The one at Delhi HC is pretty active. Whenever you do a court internship; do visit this and get to know about the work.

Cheers.

ADR Centre (www.adrcentre.in) accepts internship from law students and provides practical exposure in the field of ADR. They are also conducting a programme for law students in September.
