Dear Mooters,

The Mooting Premier League’s (MPL) second season is about to start. We, as well as all Indian mooters want the second season to be even bigger, better and more spectacular (although without any of the problems that tarred later versions of the IPL, of course!).

For this purpose, we need your help. If you or any other mooting friends or mooting committee members are interested in being involved in the MPL 2, please tell them to send an email mooting[at]legallyindia.com and we will include them in future discussions.

Ok, now the boring part is over with, here for the fun bit.

1. MPL 2 will have more competitions than MPL 1. However, to avoid debates and feelings of unfairness because some competitions have been excluded we want to make the selection of moots a collaborative process.

Are there any notable omissions in tiers 1 to 4? And do you think there should be a tier 5?

Here and on this forum we can have a free and constructive and collaborative debate on which competitions should be included and which should not.

3. How should we change the scoring criteria for MPL 2, if at all?

Are we favouring some schools over another with points allocated like this? Should we have More points for lower ranks in Tier 1 competitions? How about Tier 2? How much should the new Tier 5 competitions be worth?

4. Because MPL 2 will have a much greater number of moots than before, we will need your help more than ever to confirm results of the smaller more obscure ones. For this it would be really helpful to have a trustworthy spokesperson who can be our point of contact at each college to help us confirm performances at moots. Sometimes, I expect, for the smaller moots we will not be able to get quick confirmation of winners from convenors.

In such case, it would be great if the winning college or team could take some responsibility to give an accurate confirmation of winners, runners-up, best memorial, best orator and best researcher citations. This will have to work on trust and obviously if a spokesperson feeds false information into the MPL, this will work in the short term but will be found out in the long run.

5. Your college’s moots.

If your college hosts a moot (or you are helping with another moot or know organisers at another moot, etc), Legallypedia offers a platform for you to publicise your moot and provide details to prospective participants.

On the page you can click on an individual moot link (either red or blue) and add new information to the article - please include dates, contact details of convenors, problem details, website links, application processes, etc. If your moot is not yet listed, just search for the name in the white search box and click “go”. You will then have the option to create a new page with your article.

6. Interacting with www.Legallypedia.com

Legallypedia is a bit of an experiment, like Wikipedia but much more focused and smaller. You can contribute anonymously to it or preferably, you or your moot court committee can create a free Legally India user account ( http://www.legallyindia.com/Create-an-account ) which you can also use on http://www.Legallypedia.com
