Your favourite law movie of all time?
25 Sept 2009, 20:55
Hey guys,
I saw this amazing movie Ek Ruka Hua Faisla – a copy of 12 Angry Men – some days back and I kept thinking about all the other wonderful movies on the subject of law.
Instantly, came to my mind a few more names…To Kill a Mockingbird, My Cousin Vinny, Anatomy of a Murder, Disclosure – not predominantly ‘law based’, but intriguing story on sexual harassment which most people would agree is a big menace – and it’s Hindi version Aitraaz.
Wow!! Think I’m turning into a movie buff. I want to see more.
What are your top 3 favourite law movies or what are maoy be (good) Hindi adaptations of an English movie on law?
1) … And Justice For All
2) A Few Good Men
3) The Rainmaker
Judgement at Nuremberg
Find me guilty
Devil’s Advocate. I know it is not a very good movie and keanu reeves is awful but I really like it. Something about the idea of the devil choosing a profession and being a lawyer is apt.
But for no contest: To Kill a Mockinbird. what a movie (and book!), proabably the best courtroom drama of all time!!
Philadelphia is a must watch.
Also, the Firm and Runaway Jury are movies based on Grisham’s best.
My list would be as follows (not necessarily in any order):
1. Inherit the Wind
2. 12 Angry Men/ Ek Ruka Hua Faisla
3. To Kill A Mocking Bird
4. The Verdict
5. And Justice For All
6. Judgment at Nuremberg
7. A Time To Kill
8. Runaway Jury
9. Philadelphia
10. A Few Good Men
11. Chicago (although it was a musical)
12. Primal Fear
witness for prosecution
Anyone else like Robert Redford movie Legal Eagles from 1986? Made me want to become a lawyer when saw as a kid, sad as that is. Little did I know what real law is like…
Intolerable Cruelty is a pretty funny one too. Liar, Liar?
I watched My Cousin Vinny last night on one of the movie channels - hadnt seen it for ages, forgot how good it was!!
Does anyone know any new releases that are any good? Seems like there haven’t been any good law movies in ages. Maybe they just dont make them like they used to do??? Maybe the Grisham and high powered dramatic lawyers era died in the 90s!!
Michael Clayton- the movie is based on law firm politics.
Twelve Angry Man
Judgement at Nuremberg
What about Sleepers? It has very good court room drama towards the end.
great suggestions!! I’m going out to DVD shop to get Michael Clayton right now, it looks really good and have never heard of it before.
I don’t know whether I have got the spelling wrong, but go watch ‘Dhund’, still gives me goosebumps. Its stars, Danny, Zeenat etc. Amazing storyline, will keep you guessing right till the end.
Again not in any order:
To Kill a Mockingbird
Primal Fear
Paradise Lost
12 Angry Men
Erin Brockovich
The Exorcism of Emily Rose
The Accused
Michael Clayton
