I hope you have heard of the IDIA project (Increasing Diversity by Increasing Access to Legal Education).

IDIA was initiated at NUJS and IDIA teams are being set up in other law schools as well. The NLSIU Bangalore and NUALS Cochin chapters have been especially proactive.

IDIA now has an internship program too. I reproduce below an email by Prof. Shamnad Basheer, the brain behind IDIA.

Dear IDIA interns,

I need some committed folks to work on the following:

I) A small booklet on “law as a career option”. This should set out info on the various law schools, the range of career options in law etc etc. This will majorly help with our sensitisation and outreach programmes. This will take at least 2-3 months.

I can discuss the broad structure I have in mind for this, once you intimate your interest. I understand internships wind up soon. So if you can spend maximal time now and spread time out after college reopens, that would be great.

II) A policy note on reforming CLAT. In particular to make it more ‘access’ friendly. Time: about 15 days.
