law cannot prevent these incidents but only act on only after such event has happened.. so i guess social awarness is much more impt than prescrbing defunct legal fomulas..

I think the real problems lies in the place where such crimes occur. These crimes generally occur in dark corners of our country or deep within some remote villages. The condition of law is fairly evident in villages with all the incidents of Honor killings happening in India. So I think any law in force would not have an effect in there…

Awareness is a big thing. If people still believe in superstitions then they cannot be changed. So first they need to be made aware of reality.

Law can help. If we just say that law cannot reach the darkest corners of the country (no offence), then it means that we are just giving up.

Law is for bringing light to the darkest corners of the country. ( idealistic, I know).

yeah but question is not what should be done, it is how can it be done, how can the [poeple be educated to give up practising these customs???

Have we not solved so many things since Independence?

We have busted a lot of superstitions. We can continue doing it.

We abolished Sati, did we not?

It was a very big thing.

As soon as people come in contact with the developed world (which is helping fast), the darkest corners will not remain dark anymore.

We have done it before and we will be able to do it now too :)
