You need to subscribe to a good GK magazine such as Competition Success Review or Pratiyogita Darpan etc. U can easily crack a lot of GK questions in CLAT if u read them regularly.

The legal reasoning part was there in CLAT 2008. In CLAT 2009 it was done away with. NALSAR who set the ‘09 paper drew a lot of flak for it. In 2010, legal reasoning reappeared but with lesser number of questions. One can never predict how it is going to be in 2011. I believe you should be prepared.

Incorporation of legal reasoning is good (from the student’s perspective) especially if u plan to attend some class, it gives u an edge over those who haven’t attended classes and have merely memorized facts from some book for Legal GK. From the examiner’s perspective also, it is good as students who can apply legal principle to a given situation should any day be preferred over students who know a bunch of facts. You don’t have to worry about legal reasoning as it is interesting & easily picked up in crash programs.

What you may not be able to complete in one month is the Legal GK. Start that now. Learn important amendments, schedules of constitutions.

Facts such as “first chief justice of India” should be on ur fingertips.

Important provisions of criminal law (theft, murder, sedition, S377…) you should know what they are too.

Universal Book is commonly referred to. A lot of questions in CLAT 2009 came directly from Universal book. There are a lot more books in the market these days…Do a comparitive analysis before deciding on one. You may even ask seniors who have attended coaching classes if they have any material which will be useful to u.

as far as the knowledge part goes ‘universal’s guide to llb’ is what almost everyone vouches for…but for legal concepts & proper explanations ‘wadhwa’ is certainly very good…moreover now as you’ve a lot of time, u could devote yourself to strengthen your broad-spectrum knowledge,esp.of the legal world…go for ‘landmark judgements’ to get familiar with the different kinds of legal apt. ques. & you may also go for some books by ‘lexis-nixis’ publications though that should be only after you’re done with other more important stuff…

Sorry, I don’t think you will be eligible next year. Last year, the limit was 21 years, this year it was reduced to 20 years. Anway, keep checking their websites from time to time.

Follow a good legal blog.

Follow NDTV India religiously and do watch shows like “Big Fight” and “We the people”.

Read up ur History and Geography books of class 9th and 10th!!!

i suggest that you join some classroom coaching or alternatively take a correspondence course.

Gk-do your modules,read a good newspaper daily,Read monthly magazines like CSR or pratiyogita darpan.Make notes.Spend 15 minutes daily on wikipedia to search for new stuff.After your boards you can take test series from two different coachings which will give you an edge over other students.

logical and analytical reasoning-Do R.S aggarwal and coaching modules.

Legal Aptitude-COACHING modules,Universal guide and lexis nexis guide and mock papers.

English-Read newspaper and search for new words.Find out there meaning and make sentences.Finish your modules.Work out previous question papers.

Maths-Solve basic mathematics.Easy topics like ratio,average,compound interest,time and distance are asked.

At the end you should go through the past 10 year papers of the university conducting clat in 2011(NUJS KOLKATA)and have faith in God.With thorough preperation you will surely succeed.

Call the NUJS guys. BTW…if you are preparing for next year’s CLAT…past NUJS papers won’t help you much.

Because the pattern of ‘CLAT’ and the (now, non existant) NUJS’s ‘NET’ is entirely different.

Secondly, CLAT is framed after discussions with all NLUs. Even if NUJS is going to impact some bit of it, it won’t come up with a ‘NET’ style paper…because the administration now is different.

Practice from NLS and NALSAR papers. Practice LSAT papers too, so that you brace yourself for shocks. Don’t look for patterns. Study them. Be informed. But don’t wish that you will be tested on patterns…on what Pavlov’s dog could learn through conditioning. :)

Oh ya. That is about it.

I suggest u take up the lst beacon correspondence course.its really comprehensive and helpful.there are supplements that are designed so that u get the most.

there’s a lot of time left for you.all this long time u prepare for gk and gk itself(prepare for other subjects 3 months prior to pre boards and in the crash course)

read newspaper,mug up and make opinions about news,and as u have time make ur vocab as strong as u can.use universal for legal gk.dont worry about maths(luckily our maths section was a std 6th maths final xam paper :P)just practice the 1c taht lst will provide(do subscribe).

Do the NUJS papers coz they are setting the CLAT paper this year.

You have less than a year(11 months) for CLAT (most of U)

So start early. Considering the increasing competition,work on your books like how u work for your boards.

Spend an hour or one and half hours everyday.Its worth it.

CLAT is fun preparing for. enjoy quizzing. Once u start liking what u do u’ll definitely perform well in CLAT.

i think you can be eligible…because it says not more than 20yrs as on 1st july…so next year 2011 you will still remain 20yrs as on 1st july..and hence eligible check the dates on the website still
