The Senior Six will fix it: SC appoints crack superhero lawyer team as Patiala House peacekeepers

The Supreme Court today appointed a team of six senior lawyers to go to Patiala House court to observe the situation there and report back.

The apex court bench comprising Justice J Chelameswar and Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre constituted the six-member senior counsel team after senior counsel Indira Jaising on Wednesday afternoon told the court that the court room of the Metropolitan Magistrate was bolted from the inside and all those inside were fearing for their safety as sloganeering was going on outside.

Referring to a news channel report , counsel Prashant Bhushan told the court that one reporter T Anwar has been beaten up at Patiala House court.

The six lawyers team that have gone to Patiala House court are Kapil Sibal, Rajeev Dhawan, Dushyant Dave, Ajit Sinha, ADN Rao and Harin Rawal.

Kapil Sibal told the court that stone pelting is going on at the Patiala House court complex, a submission denied by police commissioner BS Bassi after he was contacted through phone in the court room itself by the senior counsel for Delhi Police Ajit Sinha.

The court indicated that if the situation goes out of control, then they may shift the venue of the trial.
