Former Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) Banking Group’s India lead counsel Simrata Gujral joined JP Morgan’s Asia Pacific corporate and institutional banking (CIB) Legal Team as assistant general counsel.

Gujral will be based in Mumbai and report to JP Morgan India general counsel Jigar Shah.

The Delhi university alumnus has over 11 years of experience as an in house counsel and in law firms, according to an email from JP Morgan. She had stints with Citibank, Deustche Bank and banking and finance boutique firm SNG & Partners before joining ANZ in April 2015.

She supported the corporate, institutional, transaction banking, asset management, wealth management and retail businesses of the banks.

Shah declined to comment at the time of going to press.
