Prof arrested, refused bail for saying Lord Ram was unfair to his wife

"Professor BP Mahesh Guru, who teaches at the Mysore University, was arrested on 17 June when he appeared before a Mysore court in connection with a case registered against him for allegedly insulting the Hindu god at a conference in January 2015," reported the Hindustan Times.

Guru had allegedly said in January 2015 at a conference that Hindu god Lord Rama was "unfair" to his wife Sita.

A local fringe religious group filed a criminal case against him, and he was arrested on 17 June 2016 and refused bail by a Mysore court, according to the Indian Express.
