The brother of a man who died when his car allegedly slammed into senior advocate Harish Salve's Bentley, driven by his chauffeur, told the DNA that the family was cosidering filing a case against Salve and his driver for "rash driving" [see correction below].
Salve told DNA that on his advice, his driver had filed a case of "rash and negligent" driving against the man on the day of the accident but later withdrew the FIR, with Salve extending his sympathies to the family of the man who died in hospital on the day of the accident on 2 May. [DNA]
Update: DNA seems to have removed the story from its website shortly after we first published it. We're trying to find out why so we can update or amend the story if required.
Update 2: DNA has issued a correction on its website, stating: "In today's (14/05/2014) dna we carried a news report, Bentley mishap: Family mulls plaint against Salve, which said the family of the driver who died from injuries of an accident earlier this month is considering a case against Mr Harish Salve. The report is not true. We regret the inconvenience caused to both to Mr Salve and the family of the deceased."

Not sure if Salve would have asked for a takedown - it's not really a very critical story. It could be that the family got cold feet when they suddenly saw it in print? Strange...
I'm sure that police can reconstruct how the accident has happened and who was to blame, from the wreckage, etc.
Not sure what's really going on right now though, to be honest...
Was the accident of the Wagon R with Mr. Salve's 2 seater Bentley? I understand that the driver usually did not drive the 2 seater Bentley and it is common knowledge that Mr. Salve used, and liked, to drive his Bentley every morning from his house to the office. So was Mr. Salve driving the Bentley when the accident happened?
Kian, it would be great if you could actually check the veracity of facts independently before copying articles from news websites and just pasting them on your website.
Quote: However, the accident did happen apparently - I understand that the correction merely concerns the threat of legal action, and I'm not entirely sure why it was misreported by DNA, if at all.

According to Salve, the other car, a WagonR, struck a road divider before hitting into the Bentley in which he was being driven from home at about 7.30 am. Senior police officers said they would be able to say who was at fault only after investigations. However, an FIR was registered against Joginder based on the complaint filed by Salve’s driver Arvind Pande. “Arvind Pande has filed an FIR against Joginder, the driver of WagonR. Action will be taken after investigation and based on evidence,” said Mukesh Kumar Meena, Joint Commissioner of Police (New Delhi Region) [...]
Salve said he was going through a file when he felt the impact of the crash. Joginder’s vehicle hit a divider before crashing into the front wheel of his Bentley, and then spinning twice or thrice on the road.
“I am shaken up. Had the car hit the middle of my vehicle, I wouldn't be speaking to you on the phone right now,” he told Deccan Herald.
Salve said he would ask his driver not to pursue the case against Joginder.

A man died in a motor accident - does the law not require a police investigation into culpability after registration of an FIR? The investigation might conclude that the accident was caused by the deceased or it might conclude that the Bentley driver was culpable in causing death due to rash or negligent driving.
But is an FIR not the necessary first step that must precede a full police investigation?
Second, whether DNA received a legal notice or something which made them take down the report?
