Madras high court Advocates Association today [27 June] decided to abstain indefinitely from all courts and tribunals from tomorrow [28 June] demanding unconditional withdrawal of recently amended rules to the Advocates Act, which among others provided for disciplinary action against erring lawyers.
An Extra Ordinary General Body Meeting of MHAA presided over by vice president K Gini Manuel decided on a series of protests including to abstain from the courts indefinitely, MHAA office-bearers said.

Also must say the Chief is both a great judge and a fantastic administrator. Intelligent, cultured, knowledgeable, fair and incorruptible. He's really done wonders for this Court.I can't see him bending to this kind of pressure. The legal system in India is in desperate need for more people like him. Only problem is I think a huge section of the bar don't want people like this to be in control.
