The case against Rana and Raj is in the CBI since 2011.

CBI special judge Manoj Kumar Nagpal has fixed 21 November as the date for framing charges against Rana, Raj and three officials associated with the law college concerned – Vaish Education Society Rohtak. The five accused are currently on bail but will have to be present in court on 21 November.

Rs 7 lakh and two mobile handsets were allegedly gifted to Rana and Raj, as part of the bribe for approving a new law course which the society wanted to run in Vaish Law College, according to the CBI. A case was registered in the CBI on the basis of initial information against Rana, Raj and the society’s president on 25 February 2011, according to the TOI report.

Rana has been continuing as a member at the council despite the ongoing case and the rejection os his bail application even by the Supreme Court. He is currently the associate managing trustee at the BCI, according to the regulator’s website.

In fact all the members of Bar Council of India including present Chairman Mr. Manan Kumar Mishra are involved in corrupt practice. CBI should take action against them as well.

Kian could you please look into this story? The Telegraph says he is an NUJS grad. Is it a misreporting by the Telegraph? In my opinion this is more serious than the Jahanvi Gadkar story as it is a deliberate assault, not some accident.

Kian you have double standards. You reported extensively on the alleged sexual harassment case at Jindal and then defamed the college by quoting disgruntled, sacked ex-faculty like Abhishek Sudhir. But not a peep when NLU students are accused of misconduct (e.g. the NALSAR student accused of sexually harassing an Indigo air hostess http://www.dnaindia.com/india/report-law-student-arrested-for-allegedly-harassing-indigo-stewardess-2120713)

In the present case, the NUJS grad has been accused of multiple acts of assault and papers say he got away with it because of his father's connections. The papers have even published photos of the latest victim.

Really disappointed by our double standards and agenda to protect NLUs from bad press.
