Govt to challenge SC's CIC order on appointing judges to RTI benches

Central government prepares to file for review of the Supreme Court’s 13 September judgment that said that each RTI information commission should also be staffed by an HC or SC judge [BS]

CIC, none of whose commissioners have a judicial background, had stopped functioning after the judgment and had sought the opinion of attorney general Goolam Vahanvati on various questions of interpretation left unanswered by the court.

Yes review should be filed. It is not necessary that only the judiciary is sacrascent and pious. We have already seen Ramaswamy, Dinakaran and Sen case. Though the matter of some other persons like justice Sabharwal and Balakrishan was swiming in the past but now sink. The eminent,juristic mind ,honest persons can be appointed for Information Commissioner. Similarly presently there is no educational qualification for appointment as Members/chairman of the state public Service Commission, it also needs to be prescribed.
