Paras Kuhad, Rakesh Khanna appointed ASG

ASG flurry
ASG flurry
Exclusive: Senior counsel Paras Kuhad, who founded Paras Kuhad & Associates, and senior counsel Rakesh Khanna have accepted appointments to become additional solicitor general (ASG) in the Supreme Court.

Kuhad, who has been arguing primarily in the Rajasthan high court, told Legally India today that the appointment was an opportunity to “serve the nation”.

Since his elevation to senior counsel last year, Kuhad had focused on his arguing practice over the Paras Kuhad & Associates law firm.

Khanna, who was first mooted for the ASG post in June when senior advocate Sidharth Luthra was made a new ASG, confirmed his appointment and added that the role was a great responsibility.

Kuhad was notified on Tuesday, 28 August, and Khanna received his letter today.

Mr. Kuhad's induction will be a great benefit to the State particularly in heavy commercial disputes. There is a lot to learn from his manner of dedicated preparations for arguments and his stylish presentations in court!

Well done! We need atleast 20-30 more ASGs. While we're at it, might as well add some Judges, Standing Counsels, Panel Counsels to the list as well.

Wonder Mr. Kuhad would still appear independently?

My complaint against Mr Paras Kuhad and his partners / associates is pending before the Bar Council of India. The complaint relates to gross acts of professional misconducts by them which are morally and ethically shocking.

well deserving appointment! Mr. Kuhad is one of the best legal brains and a gem of a human being. The amount he has spent on charitable and philanthropic causes is also simply amazing! Yes, if you get him on your opposite side in court, you will know how small a lawyer you are! Tremendously well prepared and a never-conceding lawyer!

Nobody is aware of this so-called complaint. This appears to be defamation and fiction against a great personality. Request LI to remove this post.

All these so called people who are praising Mr Paras Kuhad and his personality should give clear names along with their mail id. Writing Anonymous names with no identity looks like a PR job from Paras Kuhad and Associates office. Further may I know what happens to this law firm now that he as well his law firm cannot continue their private practise.....

It's sad that the best lawyers turn down these appointments permitting the B grades to get such prestigious titles.

but it will be tough for government officers to brief such a perfectionist ASG... Will get such bad dressing down if papers are missing or preparation is mediocre! wonder how they are daring to go inside chambers of a tough boss like Rohington. And now an ASG too who would demand standards of preparation to be sky high!! Govt guys better put their records straight...
