Supreme Court Justice Dipak Misra recused himself yesterday from hearing the writ petition by three petitioners, including by one Increasing Diversity by Increasing Access (IDIA) scholar who is an orphan, against the Bar Council of India (BCI) surprise resurrection of an age limit on studying law.
The Indian Express reported that Justice Akil Kureshi had recused himself, following the recusals of Justices M R Shah, Anant Dave, R H Shukla, Sonia Gokani, G B Shah and K S Jhaveri in the appeals of 2002-Naroda Patiya massacre convicts, including ex-BJP minister Maya Kodnani. Kureshi had recused himself after advocate BB Naik, who is related to the judge, had joined the case, though Naik said that he had filed his vakalatnama a long time ago:
The Delhi-Centre turf war case, titled Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi vs Union of India, which was listed as item 45 at court no 2, after Justice Khehar-Arun Mishra bench recused from hearing it yesterday, suffered another phase of uncertainty this morning. At the mentioning time at Court No.2, one of the Judges on the bench at court No 2, Justice L Nageswara Rao recused himself from hearing the case for undisclosed reasons.
