With the courts closed as much of Delhi voted today, the Delhi high court is reconsidering former DBA president Rajiv Khosla’s plea against election rule amendments barring him from the 13 December DHCBA polls.

Mint exclusive: The Bar Council of Delhi chairman Rakesh Tiku sent a letter to law firms such as Khaitan & Co in Delhi, which have converted into a limited liability partnerships (LLPs), warning them that this could be professional misconduct.

Delhi bar council member and Luthra & Luthra partner Vijay Sondhi responded with a letter of his own, slamming Tiku’s warning as illegal, and one Delhi law firm mothballed its LLP firm to avoid the controversy.

Rakesh Tiku has been elected chairman of the Delhi bar council, winning all 14 votes cast today against opponent Rakesh Goswami in a fresh election held today after the post was left vacant for over two months following the demise of former chairman K K Sareen.
