Elite independent German law firm Hengeler Mueller India desk lawyer Abhijit Narayan (who had joined from J Sagar Associates (JSA) in 2012), has moved to Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe as the head of its India desk and Middle East Desk in Germany.

Hengeler Mueller advised Indian pharma company Lupin on buying the assets of German pharma company Temmler Pharma which was advised by German firm CMS Hasche Sigle.

Hengeler partner Daniela Favoccia, counsel Patrick H Wilkening, partners Dirk Uwer and Christian Hoefs, counsel Andrea Schlaffge and associates Daniel A Spitze, Abhijit Narayan, Anne Broll, Lars Mesenbrink, Susanne Koch and Alla Hajut acted for Lupin.

This is Lupin’s fourth overseas acquisition in 2015 reported Mint. It has acquired pharmaceutical companies in Russia, Brazil and Mexico earlier in 2015, strengthening its portfolio, the report said.

Hengeler Mueller advised auto ancilliaries company Varroc Engineering India on the enforcement of an arbitration award it won at the International Court of Arbitration (ICC) in Singapore.

Hengeler Mueller disputes partner Carsten van de Sande  and associates Johanna Peters, Liliane Djahangir and Abhijit Narayan acted for Varroc India which is part of the multinational Varroc Group.

The Higher Regional Court Stuttgart ruled that the Singaporean ICC award is recognised and enforceable in Germany, for the Indian company.

Narayan: Hengeler's new India recruit Exclusive: German independent firm Hengeler Mueller has hired former J Sagar Associates (JSA) Gurgaon associate Abhijit Narayan for its India desk after the departure of Anish Mashruwala last year, who had joined JSA after eight years with the German firm.
