Advaya Legal has expanded its Mumbai footprint with Universal Legal Mumbai founding partner Sharanya G, only several months after starting a small Delhi office.

Exclusive: Advaya Legal, the two-and-a-half-year-old firm started by former GVK in-houser Ramesh Vaidyanathan, has hired its third partner with ex-BG in-house counsel Smriti Subramanian, as the firm hopes to spread its footprint beyond Mumbai.

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has appointed its first formal panel of external legal advisers and six firms, with start-up law firms Advaya Legal making the cut in Mumbai, Canpisce & Co and Verus Advocates in Delhi, and Fox Mandal & Co winning the mandate to advise in the High Court of Calcutta.

The general counsel (GC) of Mumbai International Airport and counsel of infrastructure company GVK Group has started up his own law firm by the name Advaya Legal, hoping to capture corporate, projects and litigation work.
