Senior counsel Dushyant Dave is now officially Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) president again, after his short-lived resignation in mid-February was held by the executive committee to have been void.

Dave did not respond to a request for comment, asking what he had planned for the remainder of his term.

SCBA secretary Gaurav Bhatia commented: “I thank all SCBA members for all the support. This decision has been taken by the EC keeping in mind the larger interest of the bar and in due deference to the request made by the Honble CJI Look forward to work with Mr Dave and take the SCBA to new heights.

“The EC will serve the members of the bar with great vigour and enthusiasm. It gives us immense satisfaction that the EC has risen to the occasion twice to maintain the dignity of the bar.

“Institution is always bigger than any individual.”

CIRCULAR

The Executive Committee in its scheduled meeting today, i.e. 29.03.2016 at 1.05 pm in the SCBA Meeting Room, which was presided over by the Acting President, Mr.Ajit Kumar Sinha (Sr.), considered the letter dated 15.03.2016 regarding withdrawal of resignation of Mr. Dushyant A Dave, (Sr.).

The Executive Committee unanimously resolved that the meeting convened on 18.03.2016 and all follow up action is declared non-est and contrary to SCBA Rules.

The Executive Committee thereafter, unanimously resolved that in due deference to the request made by Hon’ble the Chief Justice of India, Hon’ble Mr. Justice TS Thakur, and in the larger interest of the Bar:

“We have considered the aforesaid letter dated 15.03.2016 and have agreed to accept the withdrawal of resignation.”

Thereafter, Mr. Dushyant A Dave (Sr.), was asked to join the meeting and pursuant to the decision of the Executive Committee, he resumed the office as President of SCBA
