Secretariat, the global expert services and litigation consulting firm, announces its expansion into India by welcoming Mrinal Jain as a Director based in Mumbai. Mrinal will lead the firm’s Economic Damages and Valuations Practice in India and is a noted economic damages and valuations expert with nearly 15 years of experience focused on complex quantum, financial, economic, and valuation issues in international arbitration and dispute matters.

Mrinal says: “India continues to suffer an unprecedented complex economic disequilibrium emanating from the simultaneous demand and supply shocks of the pandemic.

“It is, therefore, not unreasonable to expect an increase in the number of dispute cases.

“I look forward to sharing Secretariat’s global best practices in expert witness services to Indian corporates and law firms in effectively managing their dispute resolution.”

“As a competitive and vital part of an interconnected global economy, expansion into India is an important milestone in our strategic growth plan as a firm,” says Managing Director Don Harvey. “The most important piece for entering a market successfully is finding the talent to bring it together. Mrinal is absolutely the right person to help us grow in India. Adding Mrinal augments our existing strategy of actively participating in the growing Singapore-India corridor. With a local presence in India, we look forward to sharing our global best practices in expert witness services to Indian corporates and law firms.”

Managing Director Howard Rosen adds, “It is rare you have the opportunity to collaborate with a professional of Mrinal’s caliber and global perspective, let alone have the opportunity to call him a colleague. Mrinal is exactly the type of professional we look to add to our ranks. He is a well-recognized expert whose reputation is top notch – not just in India, but in all jurisdictions where his expertise has been sought out. I look forward to the opportunity to work together and I am confident he will excel as he leads our efforts in India and beyond.”

“The launch of the Economic Damages and Valuation Practice in India complements Secretariat’s existing market-leading Construction Delay and Quantum practice in Asia.” adds Managing Director Amit Garg in Singapore. “The firm is now well positioned to provide a full range of expert services across Asia”

Mrinal is recognized as one of the leading expert witnesses in international arbitration. He has earned distinction by being named in Who’s Who Legal’s Arbitration 2019, 2020, and 2021 lists, as well as landing on WWL’s Thought Leader Arbitration Expert Witness 2021 list. He is appointed on the Board of Society of Construction Law – Western India Chapter and is a Member of SIAC Users Council. He is also appointed on the Advisory Board of Centre for Arbitration & Research at Maharashtra National Law University.

Mrinal was awarded with an All India Economics Merit Certificate by CBSE in 2001 after which he graduated in Economics Honors from St. Stephen’s College (Delhi) in 2004.
