Brookfield Group acquired leasable office space in Mumbai from the Essar Group for Rs 2400 crore. The Equinox Business Park property bought by Brookfield Strategic Real Estate Partners II is located across 4 towers in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex, and measures approximately 1.25m sq ft, as reported by Mint.
Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas acted for the Brookfield Group, led by partner Jay Gandhi, with a transaction team including senior associates Deep Jain, Puloma Mukherjee and Nikhil Joseph, and associates Natalee Nanda, Meghna Nachappa, Divya Hazra, Joanna Barretto and MVS Kranthi. The real estate advisory team was led by partner Ashoo Gupta and included principal associates Daryush Marfatia. Banking and finance principal associate Mallika Chopra advised on the financing aspects of the transaction.
DSK Legal acted for the Essar Group with partner Sajit Suvarna, associate partner Saloni Mody and senior associate Twara Kamdar. Real estate partner Sagar Kadam and senior associate Vishesh Karanwal were also involved in the deal.
PwC acted as tax and financial advisors to Brookfield, and Quantum Projectinfra Private Limited as technical advisors to Brookfield Group.
According to its press release, SAM’s general corporate and banking & finance practices advised Brookfield on all aspects of the transaction including conducting a due diligence on the assets and the holding company; drafting and reviewing the transaction documents; negotiation of the various documents; and facilitating closure of the transaction.
