Trilegal, SAM act on China Ctrip’s mega buy-swap of e-travel giant MakeMyTrip with Naspers

“China’s largest online travel agency now owns nearly half of India’s largest travel e-portal, MakeMyTrip, after a share-swap deal with South African internet giant Naspers Ltd,” reported Mint.

Trilegal advised Naspers led by partner Yogesh Singh. National competition practice head and partner Nisha Kaur Oberoi advised on anti-trust issues while tax partner Samsuddha Majumder advised on Indian tax aspects. Trilegal’s team included counsels Ankush Goyal and Gautam Chawla, senior associate Komal Dani and associate Manan Jain.

Cravath Swaine & Moore corporate partner David Mercado also advised Naspers.

Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas acted as Indian counsel to Ctrip.
