JSA, SAM, Trilegal advise eBay on 5.5% stake buy in Paytm Mall for $150m

Ebay has picked up a 5.5% stake in Paytm Mall, as the San Jose-based online marketplace makes another attempt to get a slice of the Indian e-commerce market. Ebay said its global inventory will be available to over 130 million active users on Paytm Mall and Paytm’s app ecosystem as part of the deal.

J Sagar Associates advised eBay Singapore Services Pte Ltd led by a team of joint managing partner Vivek K Chandy, partners Archana Tewary and Siddharth K Vedula and associates Medha Shah, Vandana Venkatesh, Arjun David Alexander, Sanjna Vijh and Karun Pahwa. On merger control aspects advised partners Amitabh Kumar and Vaibhav Choukse, and principal associate Unnati Agrawal.

Mintz Levin Cohn Ferris Glovsky and Popeo PC acted as the foreign counsel for eBay and eBay Singapore.

Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas Mumbai represented the Paytm and its promoter Vijay Shekar Sharma.

Trilegal represented the Alibaba group, an existing investor in the company, led by a team including partner Rohan Ghosh Roy, associate Pulkit Chaturvedi, associate Divyajyot Verma, and associate Karn Shukla.
