Double-Algo, AZB do $55m MedGenome fundraise from Leapfrog, Sequoia, Sofina

Genetic diagnostics, research and data company MedGenome has raised $55 million (about Rs 419 crore) in a new round of funding, led by global impact investment firm LeapFrog Investments, the Bengaluru-headquartered company announced on Wednesday. The company’s two existing backers, Sequoia Capital and Belgian investor Sofina, have also participated in the latest round of equity financing, it said in an official statement.

Algo Legal advised Bangalore-headquartered but US registered MedGenome Inc led by associate partner Prateek Mohapatra, associate Mayank Jhunjhunwala, and associate Shubham Barua.

US law firm Outsight Legal acted for MedGenome Inc as US counsel, led by founding partner Montu Bashambu.

Algo Legal also acted for Sequoia Capital, which drafted in its in-house team, in addition to the firm’s partner Jitender Tanikella.

AZB & Partners was advising LeapFrog led by partner Nanditha Gopal, and senior associate Gautam Rego.

Debevoise & Plimpton partner Geoffrey P Burgess and associate Clarissa McNerney acted for LeapFrog.

Sofina Partners was led by its in-house counsel Christopher Kang.
