Luthra for PE triple-team in Rs 130cr Manappuram gold stake with Amarchand

Luthra & Luthra represented private equity funds Barings Private Equity Partners, Siguler Guff and Sequoia Capital on their 4 per cent equity investment in listed gold loan company Manappuram Finance, which was represented by Amarchand Mangaldas’ Bangalore office.

Luthra and Luthra Delhi-based partner Sundeep Dudeja and senior associate Vaibhav Kakkar led the transaction, assisted by associates Neha Priya and Shikhar Kacker.

The non-banking finance company (NBFC) was Manuppuram was advised by Amarchand Bangalore partner Arjun Lall, senior associate Samheeta Rao and associate Madhumita Sehadri.

The three private equity house paid around RS 130 crore ($26m) for the shares from the company’s executive chairman VP Nandakumar, which will be used to repay all public deposits of the lending company, reported The Hindu Business Line.
