Exclusive:Test prep company Career Launcher takes on Rs 50 crore cash for school chain.

Delhi-based LexCounsel and Mumbai firm Wadia Ghandy & Co have advised HDFC and private equity firm Gaja Capital on up to Rs 50 crore investments in Career Launcher-owned chain of schools Indus World School for a vigorous expansion agenda.

LexCounsel acted for longstanding clients Gaja Capital that completed its second round of funding in Career Launcher group this time after an initial $8.2m that was raised back in 2007 for its educational projects under the Indus World School banner.

Wadia Ghandy Mumbai partner Xerxes Antia and associate Nihas Basheer advised financial institution Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC), which is its first such investment.

Career Launcher handled its advice in-house.

Indus World Schools was started by test preparatory and vocational training services provider Career Launcher in 2005 in Hyderabad and plans to grow from its current size of nine to 75 schools in the next five years.
