The entrance examination LSAT—India, which is trying to position itself as an alternative and possible replacement of the Common Law Admissions Test (CLAT), has grown from being accepted by four Indian law schools last year to 25 colleges this year.
Last year the test was accepted by Jindal Global Law School (JGLS), Sonipat, Law College Dehradun, MATS Law School Raipur and The ICFAI Law School Dehradun but this year the entrance test has added 21 further colleges to its roster (see list below).
The Law School Admission Test—India (LSAT—India) conducted by Pearson VUE is set to take place on 30 April in 17 cities.
The incumbent dominant entrance exam, the CLAT, is accepted by 11 national law schools and was taken by 17,300 law school aspirants last year. This year the CLAT, which is run by NUJS Kolkata, will take place in May and will distribute materials through the post office network and tweak the exam questions in order to promote law school diversity.
