IDIA diversity project to offer free CLAT prep for 1,000 students

The Increasing Diversity by Increasing Access to Legal Education (IDIA) project is offering free preparation courses for the Common Law Admissions Test (CLAT) to 1,000 students with limited financial means across 12 cities.

The IDIA initiative, which started in March 2010 by visiting rural communities to raise awareness and help poorer school students prepare for CLAT and admissions to India’s top law schools, has teamed up with CLAT coaching institute IMS to offer a free national aptitude test on 4 April.

Students selected after the test will be eligible for a free CLAT preparation crash course in April and May by IMS.

”We are expecting about 1000 students to appear for the test across all centres in India,” explained IDIA North-East team leader Diptoshree Basu.

Centres for the national aptitude test are located in 12 major metros, with several test centres in Delhi and Mumbai.

Call Ananthu (089433 11480), Indu (089433 11939), Arya (098092 11993) or Yaashna (091635 74614) to find out about the nearest centre and other details. Students can register over the phone or by writing to . The application deadline is 2 April.

More information is also available on the Stripped Law blog.

IDIA had also pledged that it would cover the CLAT fees for all students in need.
