Clat rank 30: IDIA diversity scholar from Kerala gets into NLSIU

The Increasing Diversity by Increasing Access (IDIA) to legal education initiative has already clinched an NLSIU Bangalore seat this year, with its Kerala scholar Yamuna Menon attaining rank 30 in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2015 results.

CLAT 2015 was the second CLAT attempt for Menon who is the daughter of a rural family from Udayamperoor near Cochin in Kerala. Her first CLAT attempt wasn’t as an IDIA scholar, confirmed IDIA

IDIA founding trustee Shamnad Basheer wrote in an email that Menon is the second IDIA scholar, in IDIA’s five years of operation, to make it to the gates of India’s oldest and top national law school. In 2013 IDIA Mizoram scholar Thangminlal Haokip also made the cut-off for NLSIU and is now in NLS’ second year class.

In 2014 six IDIA scholars made it to various national law schools: two got through NLU Jodhpur, two through NLUO Cuttack and one through to GNLU Gandhinagar. Two scholars made it through to Nirma Institute of Law, Ahmedabad.
