The team from NUJS Kolkata comprising of Sanchith Shivakumar, Udbhav Tiwari, Savitran Ramesh and Shruti Khetan bested RGNUL, Patiala in the finals of the national rounds of Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition held at The Law School, University Of Jammu from 28 to 30 November 2014.
NUJS and RGNUL will be representing India at the International Finals to be held at Stetson University College of Law from 16 to 18 April 2015.
The moot problem, this year, was based on shark finning and trade restrictions and the forum was International Court of Justice.
Sagnik Das from NLU Jodhpur was awarded the best speaker award in the competition while the best memorial award went to GNLU Gandhinagar.
NLU Jodhpur and NALSAR were the other two semi finalists in the competition, and have also qualified for the Stetson world rounds.
Unlike previous years when there were two separate north India and south India qualifiers, this time there was only one national round.

However, from the current year onwards, with only a single National Round - having Prelims, Octas, Quarters, Semis & Finals - all four semi-finalists will be representing India.
This is a move back to the pre-2007 position w.r.t both Stetson & Jessup. Therefore, it is NUJS, RGNUL, NLU-J & NALSAR that shall be representing India in the International Competition. Kindly correct the body of the article accordingly.
You responded to my post below here by claiming that National Rounds for Stetson & Jessup ought to remain in Tier-III as the International Rounds of one of them are in Tier-II. Agreed.
However, as you may see I started my post below stating that a 'new' category ought to be introduced. Let me clarify it by saying that this category needs to lie between Tier-II & Tier-III.
...
w.r.t screening mechanism defense vis-a-vis Henry Dunant rounds - I would say that the regional rounds still require work on a comprehensive issue and is a complete moot. I wouldn't say its level is below most Tier-V domestic law moots anyways.
1. Jessup National Rounds
2. Stetson National Rounds, &
3. Henry Dunant Regional & National Rounds
The first two were previously in category III but they were so as separate Regional Rounds. This meant that North Indian & South Indian teams went their separate way and never faced off. From this year on you'll have all the mooting heavyweights in one single pool. Meaning that even getting-out of prelims will be tougher as chances of meetings between stronger teams are higher. For eg:
NLS could previously only meet (am only mentioning prominent ones. Any omission is purely accidental and not supposed to reflect perceived image of any institution) NALSAR, SOEL, GLC, ILS, Symbi, NUALS, Christ etc to qualify. However, now they would have to take on not only these but the heavyweights of the North as well - NLIU, NUJS, NLU-J, RMLNLU, RGNUL, Amity, GNLU, HNLU, Jindal, NLU-D etc.
Thus, for teams that do well at Stetson & Jessup this year on will deserve more points than were awarded under MPL-V scorebook.
W.r.t Henry Dunant: They have also changed to a qualification format for the National Rounds. This means teams first must take part in H.D North or H.D South, and reach a certain stage to be invited for Henry Dunant Nationals.
You have currently given points only to the National Round teams, thus not reflecting the performance of people in the Regional rounds. Maybe the regional can be put at Tier-V and given some acknowledgement in the MPL.
Hopefully you will either make certain changes or revert back with a write-up on MPL scoring explaining why these changes ought not to be made.
