check here www.legallyindia.com/201210113179/Law-schools/nlu-delhi-first-batch-scores-five-law-firm-jobs-after-day-zero-ditched
NUJS' current graduating batch has 4 (or 5?) magic circle jobs.
I honestly do not know whether that was a general comment, or whether it was meant for a particular college.
However, I disagree with you to the fullest extent. Primarily people do moots for self satisfaction and because they enjoy mooting. Also it very much does influence an individual's curriculum vitae..... As for the batch, I personally am of the opinion that it's not one's college but one's perseverance and hard work that ultimately get him recruited. Also, dear sir, the feeling of utter bliss that one feels upon winning a moot is worth it all.... Trust me, I've been there... You should try winning a few :-)
NLUD recruitment's is not your fucking business. The overall quality of good mooters, teaching staff and other achievements shows the capability of a young university to achieve such heights in a short spam of time. Even if there are some issues in the placement of first batch they will get soughted in the subsequent batches. This year all univ hav seen a downfall in dere recruitment.
So just to let u know, we have a excellent quality of students, led by a brillant VC, faculty better than most national law skls, an infrastructure you can only dream of and in a span of two years we will snatch those jobs you boast of from your hands.
And till den we r kicking ur ass in International moots (try and pull up ur socks, we r fed up of no decent competition)
And, please dont be embarrased or defensive about having a critical outlook on your college. The issue is not competition between different colleges but your absolute standing in terms of academics as well. I can say for a fact, that our college is over-hyped and will not be able to stand any external scrutiny for judging the best colleges, and certainly not with respect to efficient use of resources.
@ others - please don't sling mud like this.
Practicing lawyer from another NLU.
very proud :D
But I do know that these NLU-D kids work like dogs on everything they do and they are almost painfully sincere. The settled NLUs like Bangalore, Calcutta, Hyderabad - they don't have this kind of sincerity. They have too much institutional structure built up and not enough fresh ground to break. They don't have a chip on their shoulder like these NLUD kids.
Anyway, they're kids, and most of the people who post here are adults, and should really know to behave themselves better and not carry their own disputes into posts celebrating their successors' good work.
@ NLUD students: don't be disheartened by comments - work hard. Your sincerity will be appreciated by the people who matter. You guys are doing better than some of the other new NLUs.
Practicing lawyer from another NLU.
PS- The first batch has students admitted in Oxford-Kunika, Cambridge- Vinayak, Berkeley-Akal, Geneva Institute of Graduate Studies-Arjun. You think these colleges take students from mediocre universities? The second batch has already placed (vac scheme) four students, even before Zero date. Linklaters-Deepika, Linklaters- Divya, Herbert Smith- Medha, Naman Joshi- Gopal Subramanium.
Heard of Nipun Saxena v Union of India? Nipun is from the second batch of NLU Delhi.
Sounds too defensive? Well, it's time we show everyone their place.
RESPECT
To those who say that there have been only 5 jobs, we would like to inform you that a few of our students have also been picked up by lawyers and these are the ones who intend to join the bar, and whoop your ass for your time at the BAR.
Ever heard about that, anyone other stupid National Law School.
Obviously, all other law schools would condemn such heroics of a law school half or 1/4th their age.
I had to say this, Extended Director's Cut:
Haters gonna hate. Potatoes gonna potate. Tomatoes gonna tomate. Waiters gonna wait. Alligators gonna aligate........
:p
Anyways, mooting has its benefits, for eg, if you are the best speaker in Liden you get to pursue an LLM at liden as a reward, so people choose to go to liden and get best speaker for such an incentive. Did i mention we got the best speaker and have qualified for the international rounds 3 years in a row? Oh, I am sorry, i thought mooting was just harmful.
Do i need to say anything more, you NLUD hater? I wont say mooting is everything, but recognize and appreciate if one does well and might be better than you
It's good to see some NLUD students taking criticism on the chin. Keep doing what you guys do best. Listen to good points by the critics and ignore the bad ones. Improve yourselves if required.
Else, we all give a rat's ass about anonymous commentators being unimpressed on legallyindia.
