The top eight law schools in the Mooting Premier League (MPL) will share a prize pool of Rs 1.5 lakhs, which has been kindly provided by the MPL's new sponsor Clifford Chance.

The prize pool of Rs 1.5 lakhs will be distributed after the last moot of the 2009-10 Mooting Premier League season on 30 May, according to existing scoring criteria, tie-breaker rules and included moots.

Due to the advanced stage of the competition we can not make any further adjustments to the existing scoring criteria, but all past and future suggestions will be considered for the next season.

The prizes will be distributed according to the following:

First ranked: Rs 50,000
Second: Rs 30,000
Third: Rs 20,000
Fourth to eighth ranked: Rs 10,000

The prizes will be transferred to each college's bank accounts to be used exclusively for future activities of each moot court committee or equivalent college body to support its future mooting activities.

The top three colleges will also receive trophies, with the runners-up receiving plaques.

Clifford Chance's sponsorship bid won in a blind auction process between nine international law firms.

Many thanks to Clifford Chance for its generous sponsorship of the MPL and support of Indian law school mooting. Many thanks also to all other bidders.

Happy mooting!
