The fourth season of the Mooting Premier League (MPL), sponsored by Herbert Smith Freehills, is hitting a busy schedule this first week of February, covering a World Class moot (Tier 2), a Best of the Rest moot in Tier 5 and two National Challengers (Tier 4).
DM Harish Memorial International Moot
This World Class moot organised by GLC Mumbai is scheduled to take place from 7 to 10 February 2013. The moot had witnessed good participation from teams from India and overseas in its previous editions. The competition involves five rounds – prelims, octa finals, quarter finals, semi finals and finals – and GLC Mumbai’s Moot Court Association (MCA) has promised to live blog it all on LI. Keep your eyes peeled, it should be fun.
GNLU International Moot Court Competition
GIMC is the first MPL moot to happen in the month of February. This is the fifth edition of GNLU’s flagship moot court competition. The moot, focused on international trade law promises very tough competition as the participants were already furnished with their opponents’ memos on 18 January. The prelims will take place on 6 and 7 February, followed by quarters and semis on 8, with the finals on 9 February. Live blog may also be in the offing – we’ll keep you posted.
KLA Moot, Trivandrum
This national challenger moot will probably be the first MPL moot of February to release it results as it completes its finals by the 9th of this month. The prelims and pre-quarter rounds happen on 8 and 9 February.

ICC Moot, Paris
ICC’s biggest educational event of the year, the International Commercial Mediation Competition sees competing teams of students applying the ICC ADR Rules to settle international commercial disputes. The 8th edition of the competition shall happen at Paris from 8th to 13th of February 2013.
Will NLSIU Bangalore, the current conqueror of MPL 4 maintain its lead with a total of 197 points? NLU Delhi, the present runner-up needs another 96 points to overtake the NLSIU powerhouse, which won last year’s MPL and appears to have found its feet after Nalsar Hyderabad dominated the first two seasons of the MPL.
For Nalsar, meanwhile, there is little evidence of glories past, as it’s stuck in seventh place.
NLU Jodhpur occupies the third position with 70 points. HNLU Raipur follows with a total of 68 points. The other colleges in top 10 as per the current standings are NUJS Kolkata, RMLNLU Lucknow, Jindal Global Law School (JGLS), ILS Pune and GLC Mumbai.
This mooting week promises to bring some thrilling and exciting changes in the standings. Who will climb the ladder? Who will go down? Follow the MPL live here on LI and on Facebook for the latest updates.
International law firm Herbert Smith is sponsoring the Mooting Premier League (MPL) and will contribute a prize pool of Rs 60,000 for the top three winning colleges.

Aren't you a phoren return solicitor?
Also, why is one moot which has just finals on 9 February more likely to be the first to release its results than another moot which has just finals on 9 February?
The KLA moot results are expected in before GIMC on Sunday, I believe...
NLUD has won 5th BR Krishna Memorial National Intellectual Property Rights Moot Court Competition, 2013 and 4th Leiden- Sarin International Air Law Moot (India Rounds) . Please add those to points also.
NLU-D has not won the 4th Leiden- Sarin International Air Law Moot (India Rounds) . It is one of the five teams which have qualified for International Rounds which will be held at Abu Dhabi.
Also NLUD didn't win, for the first time since Leiden's inception 3 years back it has lost the moot.
We are investigating to see of there are any discrepancies in the table with respect to HNLU. Particularly, we're confirming whether HNLU won both best researcher and best memo for pro-bono.
Please bear with us.
