Khaitan & Co won a copyright infringement suit in the Bombay high court for King.com, the creator of the hugely popular mobile device game Candy Crush Saga that had its $7.6bn IPO earlier this year.
The HC passed an ex parte order against the Apeejay Surendra Group restraining it from using the images and name of Candy Crush in promotional advertisements for a live music gig, reported the Times of India.
Khaitan Mumbai partner Adheesh Nargolkar acted for King which, he said, has instructed the firm on its trademark portfolio for the last couple of years.
King.com had come across online advertisements of a musical event named 'Candy Crush', which was planned to be held in the Apeejay Group-managed Park Hotel at Vishakhapatnam. The advertisements also copied the visual graphics of the game and its images were also used in the event promotion material, according to the TOI report.
