The next All India Bar Exam (AIBE) will take place on 26 June 2011 for those re-taking the first exam and new candidates, said the Bar Council of India (BCI) today in a statement, adding that certificates of practice were in the process of being prepared.
The 26 June exam would allow those to appear who failed the first exam, or did not take the exam in Chennai due to unrest and later cancellation due to local political elections, or who wished to take the AIBE for the first time.
The cost for re-takes was reduced to Rs 700 per person, stated the release, but would not include fresh preparatory materials. The cost for the first AIBE was Rs 1,300, including preparatory materials but the release did not mention whether this would be the full fee again.
Full details would be available when registration for the exam starts on 25 April, closing one month later on 24 May.
Earlier this month BCI chairman Gopal Subramanium told Legally India that the exam was tentatively scheduled to take place on Sunday 12 June, two weeks earlier than the now fixed date of 26 June.
Certificates of practice
The BCI stated that certificates of practice for those who passed the exam were “being printed etc. and will be available for collection from the concerned [state bar councils] SBCs shortly”. Candidates would be informed via another press release once certificates were dispatched.
However, certificates would not be provided if a candidate did not provide the BCI with proof of enrolment with an SBC or whose original payment had not been accepted.
Roughly 71 per cent of candidates passed the first AIBE of 6 March, but states such as Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh saw pass rates of only 40 and 56 per cent, while other states saw candidate numbers not exceeding double digits.

I am very much of the opinion that this unfortunate situation is the result of the personal whims of one or more individuals sitting on the top of different legal institutions and once they or any of them complete their terms in office, there won't be any such anomaly. I have passed through this trauma and can only wish strength to future victims of exam.
could you obtain details on how it will effect the 2011 batch?
Particularly where universities would not have declared the results ? - i was led to believe that now enrollment would happen only after clearing the exams - so is the 2nd exam meant for 2011 batch?

it was said clearly that we will be receiving the pass certificates through speed post at our home, but is it so, that we have to again see those BCI office pupil? they are so harsh... behaviour is so rough towards us... they behave with us as if we r beggars....
why do they behave so rudely?
please, tell them to behave good with us.... else send our certificates by post.
may i know, what is the value of this AIBE certificate? will it provide us good job? will it give us a better status?
