The NUJS Kolkata staffer who has been on leave since another member of staff accused him of sexual harassment in June, could not be found by police and has not returned to campus after his leave expired on Friday.
The complainant had first complained at the law school internally in June but on 26 July progressed to lodging an FIR with the city police, after the first hearing in the internal inquiry was delayed by more than a month to 20 August. She had alleged sexual harassment, physical assault and criminal intimidation by threat of an acid attack.
NUJS vice chancellor Prof Ishwara Bhatt told Legally India that the accused had applied for an extension of leave on Thursday but the administration declined to grant the extension. He said that the accused has not shown up on campus yet and that if he would, the administration intended to “immediately call the police” and hand him over, because the police had not been able to trace him to date.
Bhatt added that the accused had been asked to submit his “written explanation” to the internal complaint of sexual harassment by 12 August, after consideration of which the committee would begin the inquiry on 20 August.

All forms of tolerance and good morality has been mud wrestled to the ground and it seems that administration is engaged in naked cavoting around the same..
Shame Shame
1. Why did you not take action all this while?
2. Why did you violate Vishaka guidelines?
3. Why did you not advertise for teacher vacancies and instead recruit people known to you? is this not corrupt and unlawful?
4. Why have so many good teachers with overseas qualifications left in one go?
5. What is your response to allegations raised by Supriyo Routh that he was treated shabbily?
6. Why have you not attended to student grievances?
You are surely not a lawyer. Tum ho kaun?
Why would you even say such a thing, you pathetic dimwit? A person's dignity is priceless. Period.
About this topic, well everything is going wrong at NUJS. As they say, one evil leads to another. Its plain falling apart, with issues in relation to exams, placements, admin and well the "recreational bit" is something NUJS students were always famous for.
Time for the admin to get its act together that this doesn't continue, and the students to be more serious.
Your level of intellect, maturity and judgment really did shine through that one, my friend.
Yes right! When some other NLU faces problems, whether with placement or director or anything, NUJS kids are the first to come out stating NUJS being a great college and the others being bad or "low-grade" as your earlier post suggests too. Seems like NUJS learns nothing from all this and will still wag their tail on being the best around.. Now when your college faces problems you expect others to show sympathy?! Yes I do sympathise with NLS and NALSAR since they don't come out boasting about their own college or anything else unless you NUJS kids begin it.
If you'll criticized others before learn to take criticism yourself. Go solve your own crisis first before coming out and calling others a "low-grade" college, because as far as I am aware I don't remember any low grade college having so many issues at the same time.
I was just stunned and decided not to dignify that statement with a response at that point.
When bad things happen, you need to offer unconditional support and care. We hope and pray that the alleged acid user gets caught and the woman remains safe.
Why do NUJS students expect sympathy when they have none for others?? Beats me, really...
Quoting paid media:
Re paid news: yes, you're right, 'paid media' must be why no one is writing about NUJS (except for, I don't know, what must be something like at least a story a week about NUJS for the last 8 weeks or so?) [/sarcasm off]
:)
Would be pleased to look at any RTI replies you have to share.
Best wishes,
Prachi
First, readers have problems with almost everything that is reported on LI. Now, readers are even having problems with what's not reported on LI. Let's just appreciate what Kian and team are doing, or atleast be constructive in our criticism. Cribbing just indicates that one is low on the responsibility ladder.
