The NLSIU Alumni Association has sent a letter to the Chief Justice of India (CJI) to request the prompt appointment of Prof Sudhir Krishnaswamy as next vice chancellor of NLSIU Bangalore.
According to the letter:
We, as alumni of the esteemed institution, are concerned that the leadership vacuum so created will adversely affect the functioning of the institution and its future progress. We therefore request Your Lordship’s kind intervention, as Chancellor of the University, in the matter by communicating your confirmation as to the appointment of the Vice Chancellor selected through the elaborate process established and implemented by the Selection Committee as well as the Executive Council of NLSIU.
The association is understood to have been working behind the scenes since at least early this year to ensure that its alma mater receives a strong successor to previous VC Prof Venkata Rao.
In the letter, it noted that in May 2019 the association had written to the VC selection committee with “the views of the NLSIU alumni regarding the qualities required for the position, and suggested the names of some potential candidates”.
According to the letter, the committee “was kind enough to give due consideration to the views and suggestions put forth” by the alumns.
The student body has also this week strongly criticised the delay in the appointment.

Lesson for other NLUs: Unite and rope in alumni, shame the admin before the media and SC. Facebook posts and memes won't work.
Lesson for NLUD: Get cracking.
"You cannot be serious!?"
Why does this even surprise you?
What is this righteous indignation?
I am not sure if Kian will leak the letter given that he his pals with the NLSIU community, but Kian must confess if he knew this letter existed and if names were forwarded.
How is this a revelation to you?
What a total non-story.
