Next All India Bar Exam (AIBE) pegged for 12 June

Exclusive: The second All India Bar Exam (AIBE) was likely to take place on 12 June 2011, said Bar Council of India (BCI) chairman Gopal Subramanium last week, offering re-takes for the 5,700-odd candidates who failed the first exam or those who did not register or sit for the first exam.

Subramanium (pictured) told Legally India that the next AIBE was tentatively scheduled for Sunday, 12 June.

Roughly 71 per cent of candidates passed the first AIBE of 6 March, with pass rates in states such as Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh being between only 40 and 56 per cent.

Around 100 or fewer candidates in each of Orissa, Bihar, Assam, Jharkand and Jammu & Kashmir sat for the first AIBE.
