Nalsar plans opening PG centres in Malaysia, Germany

Nalsar Hyderabad is planning to open two postgraduate diploma centres in Munich and Kuala Lumpur to teach aviation law and air transportation management, according to the Business Standard. “We are currently in discussions with our partners in those countries and expect to start the diploma courses sometime next year,” said the head of air and space law at Nalsar V Balakista Reddy yesterday, according to the paper, adding that the university was in the process of signing a memorandum of understanding with the GMR Group to offer project work to the postgraduate students at Indian airports.

This should be bvehemently opposed as the institutes NALSAR is tying up with are polytechnics teaching vocational courses. It will lower the brand value of NALSAR. Why the need to tie up with a polytechnic in Malaysia teaching transport management? There have been undoubted benefits from the aggressive marketing and commercialisation of NALSAR first started by Prof Ranbir Singh, but this is a horrible move. The authorities must answer what has prompted the move. There are all sorts of suspicions going around...

As far as I know no Indian public university has been allowed to open a branch abroad due to political interference. Only private colleges like SP Jain and Manipal have branches. NALSAR may manage to get the clearance through he Congres party but it will not show the college in good light.

NALSAR's faculty is full of regional bias against its students. Nearly all the faculty is from Souther states and they can get really casteist when giving marks to students. So well, NALSAR needs to get things in place first.

Its Vice Chancellor and best faculties have just lef and state based reservations have just been introduced. This move comes when NALSAR is actually going down! Ridculous!

3 has rightly said: NALSAR is all about marketing and commercialisation. It should learn from NLSIU and NUJS who are focuing on quality academics, recruitments and social intiatives.

the domicile reservation introduced is only 20pc....the lowest CLAT rank holder to get in was 340 something....and in NUJS you have NRI quota with the lowest ranks going down way below that...also....mean rank at NALSAR is higher than NUJS even with domiciles....
its a fad ..nalsar-bashing is nowadays...if you re jealous because you didnt get through or are from our rival law schools..we totally understand...please stay in your dorms or in that clautrophobic campus of yours and criticise nalsar...and gloat over your academics...and i have never faced "casteist or regional bias".....
