M S Ramaiah College of Law, University of Bangalore students have started the law school's first academic journal yesterday (6 April).
The M. S. Ramaiah Journal of Law (MSRJL) contains eight articles, two case law analysis pieces, and an interview with retired Chief Justice of India M N Venkatachaliah.
Chief editor and final year student Mohit Singhvi said: "It is the first ever volume and will be published twice a year."
He explained that it was an initiative by the students supported by the college with a core student committee of eight.
Singhvi said he would be continuing the editorship of the journal for at least another two to three years after he passes out of college so it does not lose momentum and fizzle out in future.
He said that the role was a voluntary one and not remunerated and that he would also start practising as an advocate with a law firm in Jaipur on graduatation.
Articles in the MSRJL cover such areas as the judicial response in prosecuting corruption cases, environmental impact assessments and examining the status of Tibet under international law.
Authors include India and US-based academics and professors, law students across India, as well Indian practising lawyers and an associate at an international law firm.
