The Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University (DSNLU) Vizag in Vishakhapatnam is Rs 40 crore behind on the minimum funds required to set up its own campus. It is currently operating from a 20,000 square feet rented building for its 460 students, who are housed in private hostels across Vizag without any transport facilities, reported the Times of India last week.
These are the third rented premises from which the university is operating but unless it manages to get its infrastructure in place it will not receive central funding.
The authorities have requested the state government to release Rs 20 crore by the end of this academic year, however out of the Rs 10 crore sanctioned to it last year the state had released only Rs 5 crore.

but its not a keep that u refer it like dat...n such crunches are faced by every new NLU
better be a bit intelligent. RGNUL used up 7 whole years, and the campus is still in the offing. It would need atleast another 2 full years to get the university functioning.
On RML and HNLU, the latter'd always lacked infrastructure, and the reality vis-a-vis the former, you know the univ. was cash-rich on account of the largesse showered on it by the so-called leader helming the state.
Let us not dishearten the kids who have joined the new NLU. It is up to them what they make of their 5 years there. I hope the new NLU has a couple of decent faculty members to teach legal methods, contracts, con law and IPC in the first 2-3 semesters. The rest of the learning will take care of itself, especially in a new NLU where some kids will be "hungry".
you are spot on. But, nothing vituperative of the college is expected on a forum like this.
What funds? I thought the older NLUs did not accept funds and grants in order to remain independent?
There is no law stating the otherwise. Hence, the present situation.
RGNUL, for example, was in no better situation. The Univ. was super far from the univ.
Andhra University has an enormous amount of wasted space, including fully equipped classroom buildings. Perhaps it should be magnanimous and help this new law school get off the ground.
What I don't understand, however, is: who on earth is Damodaram Sanjeevayya??!
