Three-year-old firm Vertices Partners has promoted two senior associates to associate partner and has laterally hired one associate partner, according to the firm’s press release.

NovoJuris Legal private equity and venture capital associate partner Sohini Mandal will join the firm in June. She is a 2011 graduate of NUJS Kolkata who had begun her career at MMTC, joining NovoJuris in 2015 as a senior associate, becoming junior partner in 2016 and associate partner in 2018.

Vertices has also promoted the following two senior associates to partner:

  • Vishal Mehta (GLC Mumbai 2009) - corporate and private equity. Had joined Vertices in 2016 from ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Limited, where he had worked after Mehta & Mehta Legal Advisory.
  • Vivek Jha (NLU Jodhpur 2006) - corporate and private equity. Had joined the firm in December 2018 from Desai & Diwanji, having previously also worked at Khaitan & Co, Vaish Associates and Luthra & Luthra, as it then was.

In its third year now, the firm has a strength of 35 lawyers of which 4 are partners and three associate partners.

Co-founding partner Archana Khosla commented that almost half of the team at Vertices comprised of women at all levels of leadership: “We believe gender equality has the potential to contribute towards an inclusive and holistic growth.”

Vertices Partners now has 7 partners, of whom 3 are associate partners and 2 are women (including Khosla and Mandal). The firm’s total fee-earner headcounts including partners, is 20, of whom half are women.

The firm was founded by Vinayak Burman, Archana Khosla and Amit Vyas in 2016.

Vyas added: “It is heartening to see. These extraordinary professionals earn leadership roles at a time when the firm has completed three years and the future only looks brighter with this young brigade poised to take up a larger role in the growth trajectory of Vertices.”

Burman commented in the press release: “It gives us immense joy and pride to state that as a young Firm, we have grown in a manner to bring forth these talented practitioners within the leadership of the Firm, which is a mix of some being with the Firm from the first day of operations to some coming from other dynamic organisations to be a part of this wonderful journey.”
