Bangalore-headquartered firm Universal Legal, which also has offices in Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi and Chandigarh, has opened up in Ahmedabad under partner in charge Aayush Modi.

A press release from the firm stated: “He brings with him significant expertise in litigation, corporate and intellectual property laws along with exceptional management capabilities.”

The firm’s new office is located in central Ahmedabad’s Shivalik High Street in the Vastrapur area.

Modi was previously with local law firm Nanavati Associates for nearly four years, specialising in high court litigation. He had worked with Universal’s affiliate US-based law firm, The Chugh Firm, in California for a year in 2010.

He is a 2007 GLC Mumbai graduate and holds an LLM from the University of Southern California.

J Sagar Associates (JSA) opened an office in the city in January; Amarchand Mangaldas, as it then was, had opened in Ahmedabad in 2012. That office is now part of Delhi-headquartered firm Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, though Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas also operates in the city independently now.
