Talwar Thakore & Associates (TTA) counsel P Ram Kumar has been promoted to the firm’s partnership in its competition team in Delhi, making him the firm’s first Delhi partner.
Kumar had joined TTA in 2011 and had been promoted to managing associate in 2014, and counsel in 2018.
He is 2007 law graduate from the School of Excellence in Law, India with an LLM in international business laws from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and a degree in competition economics from King’s College, London.
He specialises in merger control, cartel and abuse of dominance cases.
TTA partner Feroz Dubash commented in a statement: “Ram has been a very important part of the competition team since he joined in 2011 and we are excited to welcome him into the partnership as our first competition law partner in Delhi. He has been involved in some of the most complex and innovative transactions in this space and will be a great addition to the partnership.”
His addition grows
TTA’s collaboration with executive chairman Vinod Dhall in the competition space in Delhi had ended in February, with Dhall joining Platinum Partners.
Kumar had taken over the management of the competition practice after Dhall’s departure.
TTA said in a statement that his promotion “reflects the firm’s commitment to growing our competition practice and continuing to provide clients with the quality legal advice they expect from the firm”.

Hopefully with the string of changes, TTA will also make their much awaited move from the lonely industrial district Jasola to a more accessible area.
A counsel like Ram would get paid more than 1 crore total for sure.
